Using the New File Guides

TValue now includes a variety of new file guides to help you get started. These can be found at startup or at any other time by selecting New from the File tab's menu. The Guide Screen is shown below.

To use the Guide Screen

  1. Select a guide from the middle to get started.
    • Blank document - Activates the Home tab for manual entry of cash flow data
    • Basic mortgage - Sets up a cash flow corresponding with a fixed rate mortgage
    • Commercial loan - Sets up a cash flow corresponding with a common commercial loan
    • Adjustable mortgage - Sets up a cash flow corresponding with an adjustable rate mortgage
    • Auto loan - Sets up a cash flow corresponding with a common auto loan
    • Canadian mortgage - Sets up a cash flow corresponding with a Canadian mortgage using Canadian Semiannual Basis and Straight-line Odd Days amortization (set in the Canadian Calculations group on the Configuration ribbon)
    • Lease - Sets up a cash flow corresponding with a common lease
  2. Next, fill in the fields to the right.
  3. Once satisfied with the inputs, click Create.

Your problem will be set up for you, calculated, and ready for amortization. You can further adjust the cash flow to fit your specific scenario.

To change the default of having the Guide Screen display when the application starts

Uncheck the Show the guide screen when the application starts box at the bottom of the Guide Screen OR

  1. From the File tab's menu, choose Options. The Startup view of the TValue Options dialog is displayed.
  2. Factory default is that Show the guide screen when the application starts is checked. Uncheck the box to have the Guide Screen not display.
  3. Click OK to close the dialog.

    Note: You can also follow the above 3 instructions to display the Guide Screen when the application starts - just check the Show the guide screen when the application starts box in step 2.
