A Skip Series generates a series that skips certain payments, withdrawals or deposits. This series differs from the Monthly Skip series in that it handles any payment or withdrawal period from weekly to annual.
To generate a series with regularly skipped payments of any frequency
- Click the Home ribbon's Special Series menu button in the Detail group.
Tip: You could also press [F2] from the Amount field of a cash flow line.
- Select Skip Series from the drop-down menu. The cash flow line will expand to include the Special Series detail.
- Enter the number of payments (or deposits or withdrawals) to be made before the first skipped payment in the Number to make field. For example, if you want to make eight payments and then skip two, enter 8 in this field.
- Enter the regular payment amount in the Amount when made field. If the regular payment amount is unknown, type [U].
- Enter the number of payments (or deposits or withdrawals) to skip in the Number to skip field. For example, if you want to make eight payments and then skip two, enter 2 in this field.
- Enter the amount (if any) to be made on skipped periods in the Amount when skipped field. This amount is usually zero.
After you finish editing the series detail, you can continue on to the Number field by pressing [Tab].
After calculating and handling any rounding, the Skip Series will remain contained on a single cash flow line. To view the skipped payments explicitly, select the Payment Event line, click the Home ribbon's Expand menu button in the Rearrange group, and then choose This line from the drop-down list. To compress the cash flow lines into a series of reoccurring events, click the Home ribbon's Sort menu button in the Rearrange group and choose Merge all lines.
