In contrast to equal and regular payments, some payments vary in their amount, when they are made, or even how they are applied to interest and principal. Some examples include payments that are regularly skipped due to seasonal cash flow, payment amounts that increase on a regular basis due to cost-of-living adjustments, or payments that are made to cover accrued interest only or to reduce outstanding principal.
TValue places payments such as these into a category called Special Series. The Special Series can be used to generate Interest Only, Percent Step, Amount Step, Fixed Principal Plus Interest payments, deposits, or withdrawals, and others.
To enter a special payment series for a cash flow line
- Click the Special Series menu button from the Home ribbon's Detail group or press [F2] from the Amount field.
- Select one of the Special Series types listed. The cash flow line will expand allowing the entry of the series detail.
- Update any fields in the Special Series detail.
The Special Series options will apply only to the events on the cash flow line you are working on. Any Special Series you have specified on other cash flow lines will be unaffected.
The Special Series type will display in the Amount field of the cash flow line if a Special Series has been designated. If no words appear in the Amount field, the series is Normal.
