Creating a New Event Name

TValue consolidates complementary custom events into groups. You can create new group descriptions or use existing ones. See Creating a new Group Name.

Once a Group is selected, custom events can be associated with it. When used on a schedule, these new events will appear on your cash flow and the amortization schedule. An example of potential custom events includes Bond and Payment.

To create a new Event Name/new Group Detail

  1. Choose Options from the File tab's menu and then click the Event Names button from the menu on the left of the TValue Options dialog.

Note: The Loans and Payments Group and the Deposits and Withdrawals Group cannot be removed and their names cannot be edited.

  2. Choose a Group from the Group box.
  3. Event Names will be available in the Group Detail box. You can keep the names or alter the ones which are editable. Add, edit, or Remove the Event Names you want to use in a schedule. Each Name can contain 30 characters and spaces depending on the characters used.

Tip: If you wish to return the Event Names to the defaults shipped with TValue, click the Reset button from the menu on the left, uncheck all but the Event names checkbox, and then click Reset options to factory defaults. Click Yes in the warning dialog to close TValue and reset the Event Names.

If you edit Event Names that are currently being used on the active TValue schedule, the new names will be reflected in the cash flow matrix.

  4. Click the Number checkbox if you'd like to see enumerated consecutive labels in the amortization schedule rather than the Event Name.
  5. Be sure that Include in event list is checked to activate the Event in the cash flow matrix Event drop-down list.
  6. Click OK to return to your cash flow data entry.

Note: If you would like the selected Event Names and groups to be the defaults for new schedules rather than just the current schedule, be sure to click Save events for new files.
